This webspace is to feature the piano music and life of David Ives and friends. Also any aspects of the creative lifestyle -as it relates to the arts in general as well as mental health, philosophy and politics. Not forgetting humour! Dudley Moore RIP.
Influenced from pre-birth by his mother playing Chopin and Brahms, David reached up to the piano keyboard as soon as he could. This with a desire to climb into the piano such was the attraction to the sound! Elementary piano tuition came a little late as little David already had his own music. Instinctively, however, he kept this safely to himself fearing admonition from his teacher. This despite a burning desire and indeed need to express his music.
Adolescence saw the influences of Oscar Peterson and Keith Emerson in particular. Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Joe Zawinul later. New music was the idea, and indeed the buzz! The classic jazz masters of the piano as well as classical have always been part of the background picture.
